Exercise One_Kite Assembly

This year’s RIBA National and International Awards Dinner held at the London Hilton on Park Lane on the 27th June 2008 showcased a large architectural installation in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom.

The striking piece titled ‘Exercise One_Kite Assembly’ comprises 42 repeated architectural motifs or elements fabricated with carbon fibre frames and tensioned ripstop nylon screens. Suspended from the ballroom ceiling, the whole installation measured approximately 24 metres long by 5 metres wide.

The design team said of the installation: "Our work stems from the idea of accumulation, the creation of a texture that can grow in space.”
